So here I am In the Labor and delivery room, ready to get the show on the road. The nurse asks me if "I would like something to take the edge off'' which anything to stop this constant stabbing and slicing in my back , Hook me up!!Little did I realize that this medication, combined with my seizure meds got me instantly stoned in 10 seconds...then they decided to give me pitocin to speed up the contractions{ I personally felt they were coming along just fine-!}where all my lamaze breathing and classes went right out the window after that- for my contractions came on every ten seconds where I couldn't breath or get any oxygen to my brain after that which probably brought on my furture seizures that i had later on!, I don't remember a thing I felt so stoned! I was like a drunken sailor trying to push according to my husband, I hit on the anesthesiologist and called him sexy,I told my ob thank god you finally showed when she was there for 3 hrs already, I wound up having a seizure on the table, which My O/B says to Tom " what do I do?" he said " what do you mean what do you do?You know she has a seizure disorder,.." I'm sure he wanted to damn near knock her out if she wasn't delivering his first born son! Oh he was upset! They gave me valium, which didnt work, then phenobarbitol, and I finally stopped. They had to try to move the baby over since he wasnt aligned with the birth canal by pushing on my side, then trying vaccuum suction twice since he wasnt all the way down to the birth canal. That popped off twice and showered everyone with blood,{meanwhile im out cold} the baby went into duress and they finally performed a cesarian c- section on me after doin an episiotomy which I was told I sat up and cried "NOO!" to try and make the opening bigger which he never came out of! So I was sliced, Diced, and Thomas Edward was finally born lethargig due to all the drugs in me from pregnancy-due to my seizure condition that I couldn't go off my meds{ I wonder if anyone gave it any thought that the drugs they poured in me during delivery also went through him as well temporarily} and had very poor appetite and needed to go home with a feeding tube down his nose due to poor appetite- he would just barely take two ounces- the Hospital wouldn't send him home unless he took two ounces .-He just barely did- and we could take it from there]. He spent 2 weeks in the NICU while I spent 3 days passed out cold in recovery from all the meds in my system and finally got to see my baby boy when he was 3 days old in the NICU. I am proud to say he is the most beautiful gift of life I have ever laid my eyes on and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Thank You Lord for blessing me with such a beautiful and healthy little boy!
