Well I never thought the day would come when he would finally crack and give in, but today he must have just woke up on the right side of the bed! He woke up, was all cheery, said "good morning mommy!"" in a the sweetest tune. Asked for his vitamin, and breakfast bar, and milk as he does every morning, watched his "Higgly Town Heroes then half an hour later, he says , "oop! My has to go tinkles! " So I say {almost knowing the response is going to be his normal "NOOOOO!!!!"} Hey, why don't we try and go pee- pee like daddy this morning standing up? I'll help you -it's real easy-i'll be right there to help you if you need me.." and awaiting my response wincing, he says "ohh kayy!!" and runs off to the bathroom! ok am I dreaming? who are you and whad you do with my son? so I grab the moment while I can and follow him into the bathroom and since he's cutting off the circulation to his "best friend" I tell him" sweety, easy does it, and tell him gentle , and relax, and as he was pinning himself against the bowl,he started peeing! WHOOHOOO!! he let go for a minute and I was like "whoa cowboy! gotta hold onto him otherwise we all get a bath!" LOL . and we made a deal that each time he goes standing up, he gets a sticker. And Thomas earned himself Three stickers today! {woulda been four, but he cheated and used the potty seat one time so it didnt count} But I gave him tons of hugs and kisses and encouragement each time and told him how proud I was of him and what a big boy he was and before we knew it we wouldnt even be using that ol potty seat anymore! The sticker method really seems to work - he feels a deep sense of pride and accomplishment- - I used it when I was potty training him- each time he went potty, he got a sticker, and went he went poop, he got a special one, and since I put it in a notebook, he can go back and see his accomplishment and be proud of how far hes come like a morale booster-I think he'll have this "standing up" method down pat in no time with his sticker method with the way he loves stickers! I'm so proud of him I can't tell ya ! I just thought I'd share my lil Monkey's success story of the day with Y'all!
