Friday I enrolled Thomas in the Cub Scouts. They sent home fliers with his Friday folders from his school to come join. I have been trying to get him enrolled in something after school besides his constantly shut in his room playing his blasted XBox, but couldn't figure out what to enroll him in! He's not very sports inclined, his patience isn't very up to par... and his sportsmanship and following rules can be improved upon, so that was out, He likes Karate, but it's expensive, so maybe next year, considering we might be looking at moving, so the flier came around to join the Cub Scouts for $15.00 including the Boys Life magazine and dues. That sounded PERFECT! He'd get to make things, make new friends, go camping, GET OUTSIDE, interact with people.. I think it was just what I was looking for! So we went down to the school and signed up. He even saw a friend or two he knew who signed up too.So He is now officially a Tiger Cub. Today Tom and Thomas went on a breakfast hike with the Cub Scouts which sounded like fun, I wish I could have gone, but had the baby, so I stayed home. When he completes it, he'll receive his very first badge! I used to have a backpack when Thomas was smaller and we would go hiking with him in tow, but just recently, dad had gotten rid of it. Shame. It's a nice father son bond for them anyway.I have to drive to meetings way out in Lakewood Ranch, so I'll take care of that part for US to bond I guess;),Hopefully Thomas will enjoy this, I have a girlfriend of mine who is a Den mother with the Cub Scouts and she just LOVES it! Anything to get him out of his room and away from his video gaming and interact with the REAL world! I just want him to have a REAL childhood like I had { I know it sounds Odd} But when WE grew up we were out until dusk and had to be hunted down and called in for dinner, but its a different age now- we played chase and Roller hockey and Red Rover or Kick The Can till we were called for dinner-now the kids all stay inside because its too damn hot to play outside or too dangerous! It's sad. You only have one Childhood and I just want the best for my kids enrichment wise and fun wise-anyone does-it'll be good for him school wise as well as psychologically wise building confidence and such. Hopefully he enjoys this.I look forward to hearing how his hike went with Dad.
